HYBRIX: SUPERNATURAL STOPPING POWER


HybriX is a new brand compound for Metelli Group brake pads which has been released onto the market under the brands METELLI, CIFAM, TRUSTING and FRI.TECH. In fact, it marks a turning point in our brake pad history. The Metelli Group 's R&D department has successfully developed a new range of brake pads with HybriX technology, which replaces copper with other no toxic materials that do not harm the environment or humans and which, in addition, have provided drivers with a number of benefits. Compared to the traditional mix, hybrid material makes brake pads providing superior features. The range consists of over 1.600 references and cover 95% of European, American and Asiatic car parc.



THE MULTIPLE BENEFITS OF STARTING FROM SCRATCH

It started when a group of Fri.Tech. engineers set out to develop a copper free compound some years ago. But being racing specialist, they wouldn’t stop at copper free. In the end, they came up with a unique formula that offers extreme comfort along with extreme performance. So, a quiet and smooth pedal feeling – but superior stopping power.

THE HYBRID BEHIND THE FRICTION

The name HybriX comes from hybrid technology that consisting of more than 30 different materials, a clever mix of organic, ceramics, special products and innovative materials. Copper is characterised by high heat dissipation properties, but several studies prove that this material is harmful to the environment.

THE POWER OF WORKING WITH NATURE

HybriX has achieved the highest level of US certification, guaranteeing a copper content of no more than 0.5 percent. This is noted by the three-leaves symbol (issued by NSF International) both on product and label. Another important certificate obtained (besides of ECE R90) that guarantee for US market high quality standard is AMECA.

PERFORMANCE IS TANGIBLE

Some technical improvements, in particular the underlayer, have led to excellent performance avoiding noisy braking and guaranteeing optimal use. Basically, it's a layer of a special mixture inserted between the metal support and the actual friction material, with the aim of optimising three main functions: increased mechanical resistance, to prevent the risk of separation and accidental breakage; reduced vibrations and noise; a barrier against heat transfer, to prevent the oil from overheating in the callipers. Another innovative change concerns the anti-vibration device assembled directly on the pad. It's already fitted on codes for high range cars, and will soon be extended to the other applications to comply with the solution adopted by the OE manufacturers. In addition, significant improvements have been made to the metal supports which, thanks to the mechanical retention system, ensure firmer adhesion of the material to the support itself. The mechanical retention system is based on a matrix of hooks on the support plate; penetrating into the friction material, or underlayer, they guarantee an indestructible mechanical bonding. This support is currently used in top range applications and commercial vehicles, where particularly high performance results are required.
